A Knowledge Seeker (BDS) is an entity, whether an individual, company, community or institution (public or private), that recognizes the importance of the knowledge and experience of Knowledge Experts (EES) in driving development and well-being. BDS are characterized by:
Motivations and Objectives:
Drive social change: BDS seek to generate a positive impact on their environment through the implementation of projects and programs that address social and environmental challenges.
Access expertise: They need specific knowledge and skills that they do not have in-house to develop their initiatives.
Foster collaboration: They seek to establish collaborative relationships with other actors to multiply the impact of their actions.
Build networks of shared value: They wish to create meaningful connections with other actors to generate shared value and mutual benefit.
Promote innovation: They are interested in exploring new ideas and approaches to solve complex problems.
Characteristics of a BDS:
Diversity of stakeholders: They can range from small social enterprises to large corporations, local communities, educational institutions, governmental organizations, etc.
Interest in social and environmental issues: They demonstrate a commitment to sustainable development and improving people's quality of life.
Open and collaborative mindset: They are willing to work together with other stakeholders to achieve common goals.
Long-term vision: They recognize the importance of investing in the long-term development of their communities and society in general.
Adaptability: They are flexible and able to adapt to changes and new realities.
BDS Needs and Challenges:
