Culture and art are not limited to the creation of beauty for its own sake. As a language modality, it plays an important role because it allows us to express emotions, create well-being and connect with the outside world from our own experience. As an agent of change, this is a modality that facilitates dialogue, knowledge sharing and transformative growth processes that benefit and do so much good for our society.
The post-pandemic has accelerated both personal and collective transformative processes and today more than ever, it ratifies our human condition in full capacity to continue seeking integration and social responsibility, which allows us to be in control of our own well-being by taking responsibility and assuming our right to search, implement and practice it.
The inclusion of culture and art is just one example, since these two components allow us to develop resilience and critical thinking, so decisive in strengthening the social fabric and individual well-being in times of such radical changes, where the deterioration of mental health (the silent epidemic) is one of the 5 main global risks according to information offered by the World Economic Forum 2022.
Therefore, in order to offer a sustainable proposal and address this need, the initiative to connect through culture, uniting efforts, ethnicities, generations, experiences, talents, creativity and growth, it represents the meaning and vision of It’s Possible Foundation for 2024.
By advocating for culture and art, It's P acknowledges the diverse spectrum of human experiences, enriching our communities. Through promoting intergenerational connections, we strive to narrow the generational divide, fortify social cohesion to alleviate isolation and loneliness, cultivate inclusion and diversity to dismantle stereotypes, appreciate our distinctions, seize opportunities for personal development, and acknowledge resilience as a pivotal element in societies confronting crises collaboratively and collectively.
This gives us a broader vision of how we can build community, rediscover who we are, the way we identify/relate as a society in a continuous evolutionary process and the way we want to be perceived to transcend and leave a legacy for future generations.
In It’s P we know that intergenerational connection has the potential to generate a wide range of benefits for people of all ages and for society at large. Our differences do not limit us; instead, it strengthens the social core, and with the inclusion of culture and the arts as a connection elements, we find a powerful tool for maintaining shared well-being.
The World Health Organization in the year 2020, warned organizations, authorities, and governments to apply policies to improve collaboration between the health and artistic sectors since art and culture seriously benefit our health, according to an exhaustive large-scale study.
In its report "Culture and health: an agenda for action", the WHO attempts to promote the development of better programs and services to benefit shared well-being and, in turn, obtain results regarding the effectiveness of the inclusion of art and culture for global mental health in general.
